I took a 2-hour train ride from Edinburgh to the small town of Pitlochry. My first stop was to Hatties Tearoom, for a scone with jam and clotted cream. It was marvelous.
I walked 1 mile to the starting point of Ben Vrackie. I stopped at a convenient store along the way, to pack some water and snacks in my backpack.
The climb to the top is 841 meters steep. The hike was about 5 miles. I met some cool people along the journey, including a fellow American backpacker. The views were breathtaking.
