The Isle of Skye is a stunning little island in the Scottish Highlands, off the west coast of Scotland.

Edinburgh

The Edinburgh Fringe Festival stands as the world’s largest performing arts festival, lasting 25 days and showcasing over 51,446 performances.

Pentland Hills

The Pentlands are a range of hills just an hour and 20 minutes southwest of Edinburgh. You can take the Lothian buses to and from the city. The hills are an iconic and ancient volcanic landscape, carved by recent glacial history, offering many trails to choose from.

North Berwick

I took a 30-minute train ride from Edinburgh to this quaint seaside town, known as North Berwick. I walked up North Berwick Law, which is a volcanic hill that offers stunning panoramic views of East Lothian.

St. Andrew’s

St. Andrews Castle was a bishop’s palace, a fortress and a state prison during it’s 450-year history. Protestant Preacher, George Wishart’s body, was burned inside these castle walls. Catholic Cardinal, David Beaton, was murdered inside the walls.

Pitlochry

I took a two-hour train ride from Edinburgh to the small town of Pitlochry. My first stop was to Hatties Tearoom, for a scone with jam and clotted cream. It was marvelous.

Sterling Castle & Loch Lomond

Stirling Castle, built on a fortified volcanic crag, has been modified by Scottish monarchs over the centuries. It is one of Scotland’s greatest stone castles.
