Stirling Castle, built on a fortified volcanic crag, has been modified by Scottish monarchs over the centuries. It is one of Scotland’s greatest stone castles.
The drive from Sterling to Loch Lomond was an hour. I had time to kill before my boat ride, so I ventured on a walk around the Loch. I came across this hidden castle, known as Balloch Castle.
My group took the ‘stay on board’ circular cruise around the Loch. The views included stunning castles and beautiful rolling hills.
